  • The most "cork" cities in Ukraine

Ukraine does not belong to the countries where the problem of traffic jams is acute. Ukrainian cities do not even make it into the top 100 of the world ranking, but this does not mean that there is no traffic collapse on the country's roads.

In large cities, up to 5% of all streets are systematically closed. If these are small lanes along which residents of neighboring houses pass, no one will say that there is a traffic jam, but patching affects both large avenues and junctions.

We offer top-5 cities of Ukraine, where many kilometers of traffic jams regularly occur.

The most "cork" cities in Ukraine

1. Kiev

Since 2016, the capital's roads are more like a construction site. Annually, they announce the start of repairs on at least fifty streets of Kiev.

The small traffic capacity of many central streets, which were built in the middle of the 20th century and were designed to pass no more than one or two cars in 3 seconds, also contribute to the congestion.

Today, the number of cars in the capital, compared to 2000 alone, has increased by 100%, and if compared with 1970, this figure has increased more than 20 times.

Every day in Kiev traffic jams, motorists spend up to 60-90 minutes. And this is the largest figure in the country.

There are several problem areas in Kiev. This is a recently renovated part of the road on ul. Vadim Getman, etc. Victory. It is impossible to bypass the problem area - even the looping between the houses will not bring results, and getting from Syrtsa from the Dorogozhichi station to Solomenskaya Square during rush hour sometimes takes drivers up to an hour and a half.

From 9:00 to 11:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00, one of the longest avenues in the capital, Pobedy Avenue, on the section between the Shulyavskaya - Nyvki metro stations, stands steadily. It makes no sense to drive off the avenue onto the lanes that wind along a complex section - they are also overloaded at this time.

It is not recommended to enter the capital through the Gostomel highway with a turn to Vinohradar on the weekend. The narrow road turns into a jam, which decreases only with the exit to Pravdy Avenue before turning to Radianskoy Ukrainy Avenue.

2. Kharkiv

The first capital of Ukraine is gradually approaching Kiev in terms of the number of traffic jams, although a few years ago Odessa occupied the second place in terms of travel difficulties. The greatest congestion on the streets of Kharkov is observed in the pre-New Year and pre-Easter week. On a 10-point scale, the level of congestion on some road sections on such days reaches 6.9 points. On other days during peak hours, the workload does not exceed 3.8 points.

Morning traffic jams start at 9 o'clock, the peak of the evening "machine condition" - 18:00. Friday is the busiest day of the week, Monday on the Kharkiv streets, even at rush hour, is relatively free.

Reconstruction of one of the largest avenues in the city - Gagarin, slightly reduced the traffic load on the center of Kharkov. Completed lanes allow drivers to cross problem areas faster.

Until ten o'clock in the morning the toffee is observed on Vernadsky and Gamarnik - drivers move at a speed of up to 15 km per hour, but this is better than driving a hundred meters in an hour.

If you need to break into the city center during the morning rush hour, motorists choose to drive along the street. Klochkovskaya, which remains the fastest, and across the Kharkov embankment.

Depending on from which district of the city Kharkiv residents cross the center, the waiting time in traffic jams is also different. Most of the time to get to the center is spent by residents of the residential area Saltovka, least of all - by residents of the Bolshaya Danilovka microdistrict.

3. Odessa

In 2015-16, Odessa broke all records in Ukraine in terms of the number of congestions and the duration of standing in a traffic jam, and came close to Kiev. The average score on Odessa streets did not drop below 6 out of 10 possible. The reason for this was frequent repairs on emergency sections of central streets and highways leading to sleeping areas.

The most problematic areas are named: in the center of Odessa - Vodoprovodnaya Street and Vysotny Lane, Luzanovka stop. The peak of congestion occurs during the summer season, when tourists come to the city. In 2018, more than a million people visited Odessa, the number of cars increases by 25% in the summer.

The main reason for Odessa traffic jams is the lack of parking space and the chaotic operation of traffic lights. Narrow streets, which were built without taking into account the increasing traffic flow, also do not contribute to unloading the streets.

Spring 2019 brought even more problems to the Odessa driver. Due to frequent visits to the city by the President of the country, the center of Odessa is systematically blocked for patching, and the side streets - for the passage of the presidential motorcade.

4. Dnepropetrovsk

Dnepropetrovsk is the second largest city in the country, it covers an area of 405 sq km. (the area of Kiev - 848 sq. km., Kharkov - 350 sq. km.) and the third in terms of the number of inhabitants. But in the Dnieper the problem of traffic jams is becoming more and more urgent. On average, city dwellers spend up to 10 minutes every day to drive through problem areas.

In total, after a planned inspection of streets and highways by the road service and traffic police officers, 24 problem areas were identified in the city, where in 2018 the largest number of accidents occurred and most often there were congestions. This is a section from the Central Bridge on the street. Serov to st. Plekhanov, Zavodskaya Embankment to st. Pavlova.

The congestions of the Dnieper do not exceed 3.4 points in the most stressed areas during rush hours, which, as in other cities of the country, start at 9 am and at 6:30 pm. At this time, Dnipro residents "stand well" on the streets of Pravda newspaper and Artem street.

5. Zaporozhye

Zaporizhzhia completes the rating of Ukrainian cities with the largest traffic jams. The difference between Zaporozhye and other cities is that if, for example, in Odessa or Kiev it is difficult to drive through the center, then in Zaporozhye, for more than five years, entry into the city remains a problem.

Since April, traffic jams have been observed on sections of the road leading to the city from the village. Kirillovka (direction from Berdyansk). The second problem area is near the village of Balashovka.

In the city during rush hours there is a standard tumbling on the Preobrazhensky Bridge, Pobedy Avenue, on the Pribrezhnaya highway. Residents of Zaporozhye daily lose up to 10 minutes in city traffic jams, and when leaving the city, you can spend up to one and a half hours.
