An overview of a completely new, third-generation Nissan X-Trail that has become completely different from its old "brothers" crossovers.

Many SUV enthusiasts believe that a car should, with its brutal appearance, resemble a huge wardrobe on wheels. All of them, for sure, will be unpleasant to learn that another famous representative of purely male cars has fallen victim to marketing moves. The birth of a new (third in a row) generation Nissan X-Trail T32 is accompanied by a radical change in its image. Fans of chopped lines and ascetic archaism have nothing more to do while driving this "Japanese". From now on, he will be a typical representative of the kind of crossover, which is usually attributed to the premium segment. By the way, for the US market, the car is referred to as the Nissan Rogue.

The adherents of the old look of the Nissan X-Trail, which by this time had survived the change of two generations and one restyling, had a bad feeling back in 2012, when the Japanese showed their conceptual Hi-Cross crossover at the Geneva motor show.

In parallel, representatives of Nissan voiced the desire to give all their models similarity and corporate recognition. This suggested that the expensive and chic Nissan Qashqai, Nissan Pathfinder, or even more so Nissan Murano would hardly be modified, adjusting their looks to the canons of the old-fashioned appearance of the Nissan X-Trail. And all fears were confirmed at the presentation of the third generation of the X-Trail in Frankfurt, because the new product turned out to be a spacious, comfortable and very modern-looking crossover.

X-Trail will start producing in Russia in 2015

The new Nissan X-Trail, which has caused its radical change in its image, controversy among fans of expensive SUVs and connoisseurs of square SUVs, should begin to roll off the assembly line of the St. Petersburg plant of the Nissan company by mid-2015. In addition, this crossover will be produced in Indonesia in the city of Purwakarta and in Japan itself in the city of Kyushu for consumers from Europe and Asia.

Appearance of the third generation X-Trail

It is enough to look at the new product from the front to understand that the fashionable, slightly squinted headlights decorated with LED strips of running lights, a V-shaped radiator grill with the Nissan logo and a massive bumper with a hood completely changed the previously familiar rustic look of this car and gave it charisma and impudence.

In profile, the car looks expensive due to the perfectly drawn monumental wheel arches, stylish alloy wheels, embossed muscular fenders and the resulting visual sense of the waviness and bulge of the body silhouette. The rear is typical for crossovers: a laconic bumper, a dominant position of the tailgate in the form and a stylish spoiler and LED marker lights. The number of body color options is promised to be increased to eight.

The 2015 X-Trail SUV is based on the Japanese-French Common Module Family platform.

Its dimensions:

  • length - 4640 mm;
  • width - 1820 mm;
  • height - 1715 mm;
  • wheelbase - 2705 mm;
  • clearance - 210 mm;
  • the distance between the wheels is 1575 mm.

The designers managed to make the third generation of this "Japanese" look more compact than the second. But in fact, the car became longer by as much as 75 mm, wider - by 30 mm and higher - by 15 mm.

Interior of the new X-Trail 2015

It is enough to climb inside the third generation Nissan X-Trail to understand: the compact appearance of the body is just a design gimmick. The interior of the crossover is really spacious! Moving into the class of more expensive cars, the new X-Trail inside became similar to Infiniti. From him he took many design solutions and better and more expensive finishing materials.

The center console is adorned with a touchscreen display for the Nissan Connect infotainment system. Next to the multifunctional steering wheel, there is a dashboard, which also has a screen, although it is no longer a touchscreen and is only five 5-inches in size, but coping with the function of bringing to the attention of the driver all the information coming from the on-board computer.

There is so much space in the cabin, but the designers have taken care of giving the rear row of seats mobility. It can be moved forward or backward depending on the need to increase the trunk or interior. Adjustable at the back row and backrest tilt. It is planned that one of the options will offer the buyer to purchase the crossover Nissan X-trail 2015 with an additional third (child) row of seats, which will make it a seven-seater. The panoramic roof, already familiar from the previous generation of this SUV, gives a special charm to the interior.
