According to the manufacturer, by the end of 2020, 4 new copies of the charged Volkswagen Golf models (R, GTI, GTD and the new GTI TCR) should enter the market. It is worth recalling that the premiere of the new, eighth generation VW Golf took place at the end of October 2019. Not a year has passed since the company will present a charged version of the Golf GTD and GTI in Geneva. It also became known that the new Golf R will be presented at the festival of speed (in Goodwood). In addition to the official debuts of new products, the manufacturer promised to start selling them in the near future, in parallel with the new hybrid GTE.

Now about the new Golf GTI, the novelty differs from the basic version with an impressive air intake, modern body kit, twin exhaust pipes and red calipers. The new Golf GTI will be based on a redesigned MQB platform with MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link rear suspension, which the manufacturer claims was hesitant to make the 8th-generation GTI a hybrid. The novelty will use many components and parts from the 7th generation, thus taking only the best. It is known that the new Golf GTI received a modified EA888 turbocharged gasoline engine (2.0L) from Audi. The buyer's choice will be offered with two power options, for 245 or 290 horses.

In tandem with the unit, a 6-speed mechanics or a 7-speed robot from the previous generation will be offered. If you believe the preliminary dynamic measurements, then the maximum configuration Golf GTI will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.0 seconds, while the maximum speed will be 250 km / h, limited by software.

Regardless of the configuration, the new charged hatchback from Volkswagen will only be offered in a 5-door version. In contrast to the exterior, the Golf GTI's interior will get a fully digital instrument panel, a large multimedia display and an updated console. For a complete set with a robotic transmission, the lever will be T-shaped, which will give even more sportiness to the hatchback.
