Mercedes-Benz still hesitated to organize the assembly production of passenger cars in Russia. But the situation has changed.

Mercedes-Benz, to all appearances, will still make its own cars in Russia. This will allow the Germans not only to slightly reduce the prices of their cars, but also give the opportunity to continue to sell their models to Russian officials. According to Gazeta.ru, the Germans have already decided on a site for organizing production. However, for some reason, the place where the Mercedes was assembled is still kept in the strictest confidence. At the moment, the list of possible candidates includes such sites as ZIL in Moscow, Avtotor in Kaliningrad, KAMAZ in Naberezhnye Chelny or GAZ in Nizhny Novgorod. Although it is possible that Mercedes-Benz will decide to build its own production facility.

Recall that on July 14, 2014, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree according to which civil servants are prohibited from purchasing foreign-made cars. According to the prime minister, the state is now purchasing quite a lot of equipment, spending significant funds on it. “It is better if they go to domestic companies than to foreign manufacturers, in the case when domestic companies are able to compete with foreign manufacturers in terms of quality and price criteria,” the prime minister added.
