The Geneva Motor Show is one of the brightest events in the automotive world. Since Switzerland itself cannot boast of any achievements in automotive design, it took on the responsibility of organizing this international event. Long-lived manufacturers or newcomers to the car market can surprise, shock, inspire and learn from competitors here.

Focused on sports cars and concept cars, this largest European show allows motorists to be the first to see the most expensive new items, the most spectacular projects and unique cutting-edge technology and research.

The March 2018 Motor Show, the 88th in history, presented the most important innovations from manufacturers such as Kia, Volvo, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche and other world leaders in the automotive industry.

1. Porsche 911 GT3 RS

This model has been expected since 2014, when fans harshly condemned the previous design, full of strange design decisions and dubious engineering innovations. A wave of negativity was also caused by the fact that the car was equipped with an exclusively automatic transmission with dual clutch.

The new, extremely powerful, two-door supercar, after 3 years of oblivion, has regained the mechanical box and the delight of its fans. Even without a turbocharged engine, the 911 remains on an unattainable podium among all track racing cars. Its distinctive feature is not being overloaded with technical means and electronic assistants, which almost completely exclude the role of the driver himself.

GT3 fulfills its considerable cost of 200 thousand euros, completely surrendering to the will of its owner's decisions. In appearance, it is worth noting the modified diffusers and spoilers, updated optics and an enhanced 520 hp engine.

2. Skoda Kodiaq Laurin & Klement

The model, named after the founding fathers of the brand, immediately catches the eye with an increased amount of chrome. It adorns the front bumper and runs along the edges of the rear lid with an edging strip.

But the main changes should be sought inside the cabin.: Now he has got upholstery in luxurious leather with two-tone trim, the front seats have received an electric drive, as well as the richest standard equipment, which on other models is only at an additional cost.

There were also changes in the technical part, which acquired a petrol 150-horsepower turbo engine 1.5 TSI, which replaced the 1.4 TSI. The range of transmissions has been replenished with a new version of the 7-speed robotic DSG gearbox, which was previously only found on models with a 2.0 TSI gasoline engine and a 150-horsepower 2.0 TDI diesel engine.

3. Ferrari 488 Pista

The Italians, as always, amaze the imagination with real hardcore models of their sports cars. Pista, which translates as "track", impresses with the main and most striking innovation - the most powerful 3.9-liter V8 engine in the history of the manufacturer with 720 "horses".

The speed will seem even greater because the new version differs from the basic coupe in very thinner forms - minus 90 kg of weight. In addition, the designers followed world practice and added carbon fiber to the body, from which they made the engine cover, front fairing, diffuser, spoiler.

The Formula 1 image is inspired by the S-Duct air intake, underbody ducts and an extended spoiler that increases downforce by 20%. Ferrari promises that with such characteristics, even a simple layman on the city road, even a pilot on a race track, will squeeze maximum performance out of the car.

4. Bugatti Chiron Sport

This monster has an unforgettable appearance, decent internal stuffing and excellent technical performance. He also lost 18 kg thanks to the active introduction of carbon fiber, which was the first in the automotive industry to make windshield wiper arms. Additionally, the hypercar received lighter wheels, thinner rear glass and improved exhaust tips.

In addition to design adjustments, the car can boast of perfect handling. The Dynamic Handling package controls the action of the adaptive dampers, whose stiffness is increased by 10%, and the steering. And thanks to enhanced aerodynamics, suspension, rear differential and reduced weight, the € 2.65 million hypercar is 5 seconds faster than its base model.

5. BMW M8 Gran Coupe

This model confirms the long-standing rumors that the Bavarians are seriously interested in expensive sports. The Gran Coupe will be the flagship of a new car lineup that will not be fully unveiled until 2019. The letter M in the name does not mean Motorsport at all, as many thought, but More - "more." Therefore, the engine will receive more power - 650 "horses", the body is more carbon fiber in the body, and the look - more brightness and aggression.

Thin contours and predatory "face", modern avant-garde touches and classic high quality make the car one of the most prominent representatives of the car dealership.

6. Toyota Auris

The Japanese have officially presented a completely revamped model in its third generation. While the 5-door hatchback intrigued on the catwalk with its tightly tinted windows, visitors noted its streamlined shape, a lower center of gravity, a longer wheelbase and faster proportions. The car is based on a comfortable, manageable, reliable TNGA platform.

However, the most unexpected surprise was two hybrid versions at once: one efficient and at the same time economical with a power plant from the Prius, the second - the most powerful with a 2-liter naturally-aspirated engine of the Dynamic Force series.

7. Aston Martin Lagonda Vision Concept

The fast-moving concept car resembles a futuristic blob with door wings rising upward. The manufacturer has installed a battery of such power on the car, which is able to cover more than 600 km without recharging.

But even this indicator is not the most impressive in the model, but its external and internal appearance.

For example, chairs that have received a design execution are installed on special levers and have the ability to rotate. This not only saved internal space, but also facilitated the process of communication between passengers. The interior combined both ceramics and carbon fiber, even silk and cashmere.

8. Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder

This unique roadster, which recently celebrated the release of its 10,000th unit, has combined a coupe and an open body in its sixth generation. Although the retractable roof design assumes an overall weight of the car, the designers have made every effort to keep it dynamic.

Under the hood, a powerful 600-horsepower 5.2-liter V10 petrol engine is still installed, "making" its hundred in just 3.1 seconds.

9. Mercedes-AMG C 43

At the end of 2017, this model was recognized as the most popular mid-size representative in the premium segment.

The updated version has become even more impressive, more overall, more powerful. Redesigned bumpers with reinforced chrome trim, sharper optics and a smart LED system emphasize strong character and modern styling.

The interior of the model also received a refined new design: smooth lines of the center console, made in 3D-real wood veneer, a multifunctional leather steering wheel, elegant black upholstery of the seats. And at the center of all that luxury is a 3.0-liter, 385-horsepower turbocharged V6 engine.

10. Jaguar I-Pace

Having passed a year and a half from concept to production car, this SUV is now a real competitor to Tesla. The squat, all-electric premium crossover will be the first true British electric vehicle of its kind.
It has a very large wheelbase, retractable door handles, forward-biased interior, large exterior mirrors, a 656-liter trunk, and Range Rover Velar steering and suspension.

If the Mercedes EQ and Audi e-tron are not to be expected until 2019, then this crossover could see the light of day in the middle of this year. Decent traction will be provided by two electric motors capable of covering a distance of almost 500 kilometers. The total power of the power units is 400 "horses", and they accelerate the car to hundreds faster than many gasoline engines - in 4 seconds.
